L&rsquo;id&eacute;e de produire du son synth&eacute;tique sur pellicule a donc germ&eacute; conjointement en deux parties distinctes du monde sans qu&rsquo;il soit &eacute;tabli de relation directe entre les deux d&eacute;couvertes. <br \/>\n\tD&egrave;s 1932, Yevgeny Cholpo reprend l&rsquo;id&eacute;e de travailler sur les sons optiques au Conservatoire de Leningrad &ndash; Len Film- avec G. M. Rimsky-Korsakoff, &agrave; partir de l&rsquo;oscillographie des sons naturels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/l3FlkHRLnEk?rel=0\" width=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Cholpo d&eacute;veloppera, par la suite, sa propre m&eacute;thode de production sonore et ce, jusqu&rsquo;&agrave; inventer une machine qui m&eacute;canise l&rsquo;animation du son. Il la baptise &laquo;&nbsp;variophone&nbsp;&raquo;&nbsp;: il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un appareil photo&eacute;lectrique qui fabrique des bandes-sons optiques &agrave; partir de disques en cartons &eacute;vid&eacute;s, tournant le&nbsp;long d&rsquo;un axe et impressionnant la piste optique de la pellicule de fa&ccedil;on m&eacute;canique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3FxEO2jZc-Y?rel=0\" width=\"480\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>De 1932, ann&eacute;e du premier mod&egrave;le, &agrave; 1948, Cholpo invente trois versions du variophone.
