Proche des compositeurs La Monte Young et John Cage, sa pi&egrave;ce <em>Box with the Sound of its Own Making<\/em> est &agrave; la fois un hommage au <em>Ready Made<\/em> de Marcel Duchamp tout en contribuant &agrave; d&eacute;velopper l&#39;id&eacute;e d&#39;une sculpture minimaliste dans le sillage du <em>Process Art,<\/em> rejetant toute approche romantique dans le processus de cr&eacute;ation artistique. <br \/>\n\tRobert Morris r&eacute;alise cette &oelig;uvre en janvier 1961 &agrave; New York. La bo&icirc;te est constitu&eacute;e de six pi&egrave;ces de bois reli&eacute;es entre-elles pour former un cube parfait de 28 cm de c&ocirc;t&eacute;.<br \/>\n\tPendant les trois heures et demi que durent la construction de la bo&icirc;te, Robert Morris proc&egrave;de &agrave; un enregistrement audio o&ugrave; sont pr&eacute;lev&eacute;s l&#39;int&eacute;gralit&eacute; des bruits de la construction : d&eacute;coupage &agrave; la scie, marteau, pon&ccedil;age, d&eacute;placements de l&#39;artiste dans son atelier, etc. <br \/>\n\tDans son principe d&#39;exposition, la bo&icirc;te donne donc &agrave; entendre les sons de sa fabrication au spectateur gr&acirc;ce &agrave; un petit haut parleur situ&eacute; &agrave; l&#39;int&eacute;rieur de la bo&icirc;te qui permet de r&eacute;activer la cr&eacute;ation de l&#39;&oelig;uvre en temps r&eacute;el. <br \/>\n\tDans le cercle artistique de Morris, la bo&icirc;te est &eacute;galement per&ccedil;ue comme une forme de performance musicale.
